This issue focuses on describing a phenomenon that has been developing in France in recent years: the social and solidarity economy. “It’s a profound movement, a way of collectively inventing other ways of living in a damaged world,” observes essayist Marielle Macé.
To explore this phenomenon, we followed the work of an innovative association in Normandy: ARDES, the Regional Association for the Development of the Social and Solidarity Economy.
We also wanted to decipher the sometimes ambiguous concept of “third place” and analyze the approach used by ARDES to support and assist the growing number of solidarity initiatives on the ground.
